Body Studies

Van Dyke Brown, 2024

In this series, I aimed to highlight the beauty of the body through the varied, rich tonalities of the Van Dyke Brown medium. I focused on how light and shadow can beautifully illuminate skin texture and enjoyed zooming in on the natural creases and folds of the skin to create almost abstract images. This series unlocked a love of body photography that I had not previously been able to explore or realize, and I’m excited to continue to evolve in this area of study in the future.

The first photo on the left in this gallery, Revealed, received the First Place Prize for Photography at Loyola University Maryland’s 2025 Student Showcase, juried by Bria Sterling-Wilson.
